The Audi A7 is a great choice for luxury large car shoppers, as it has few – if any – real faults. It handles well despite its large size, and there are many powerful engines available. Step inside its handsome cabin, and you’ll find roomy leather seats and a bevy of infotainment, convenience, comfort, and safety features. It also has one of the most spacious cargo areas in the class. However, taller passengers may find headroom lacking in the rear seats.

2020 Audi A7 Overview

Should I Buy the Audi A7?

The A7 is a great value for this class, and it’s certainly worth buying. There are, however, some other worthy competitors to consider. The Porsche Panamera has a substantially higher price tag, but this super luxury car has even stronger engines and a richer cabin than the A7. The Mercedes-Benz CLS ranks a little lower in our luxury large car rankings, but it’s still a good vehicle with powerful engines, great handling, and an opulent interior.

Audi made no major changes to the A7 for 2018, so you may want to consider a nearly identical used 2017 model to save money. You can likely save even more by shopping further back in the A7’s current generation (which began in 2012). For 2015, four-zone automatic climate control was made standard, along with crash prevention technologies like Audi side assist and Audi pre sense rear. Changes for 2016 included updated interior and exterior styling, as well as an upgraded MMI infotainment system with quicker processing times and 4G connectivity. The base 2016 A7 got a boost in horsepower from 310 to 333, while the 2016 S7 increased horsepower from 420 to 450. If you’re looking for a diesel A7, which was affected by the Volkswagen emissions scandal, you’ll have to look for an older model than a 2017. Other changes for 2017 included the new Competition trim, which added a 340-horsepower engine, a sport suspension, and a special exterior design. Also introduced was the 605-horsepower RS 7 Performance trim, which comes with a DRC suspension system, Audi ceramic brakes, a sport exhaust system, and carbon exterior pieces.
