2018 Mazda Miata Redesign

After its big debut a year ago, the new-generation MX-5 Miata gained a new Retractable Fastback model and a few new safety goodies in 2017. For 2018, we expect the MX-5 Miata to be a carryover model.

As a carryover, we expect no changes to the 2018 MX-5 Miata’s appearance. This shouldn’t pose an issue, as Miata fans are quite accustomed to many years of the same looks. Plus this design is still very fresh.

Inside, we expect the Miata to remain the same too. This is one area where the Miata stepped up its game in its latest generation. It’s not only better-equipped than any Miata before it, but it is more comfortable and there are lots of available features in higher trims.

As for its standard features, we expect these to remain the same. If this proves true, look for the 2018 Miata to come standard with 16-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, air conditioning, keyless entry and ignition, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter knob, Bluetooth connectivity, and a six-speaker audio system.

We expect nothing to change under the 2018 MX-5 Miata’s hood, as it should continue with the same 2.0-liter four-cylinder the current model shares with the Mazda 3. This engine will continue with 155 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque. The power will head through a standard six-speed manual transmission, while a six-speed automatic will be available as an option.
