Chevy is trying to elbow their way in the crossover market. Their main model is Tahoe, and it seems like the company is doing everything to boost their chances. However, it is not easy. That’s why 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe is getting some significant changes. Maybe the greatest addition to this edition is RST trim. This model will bring a boost in performance, while designers are developing lighter parts. Furthermore, stylish details are probably part of the final touches, which are on schedule after the premiere. Finally, all fans expect the price to at least remain at the current level, but it is not so certain with a number of innovations that come with SUV.

2019 Chevrolet Tahoe new look

The 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe will continue to offer three rows of seats. Comfort is not in doubt with every premium edition from this company. So, we can say there will be enough room for head and legs, leaving enough space for storage area. Front seats will come with heating, and dual zone climate will boost overall impression about the crossover. As its latest model, 2019 Tahoe will get the latest infotainment systems. Nevertheless, a lot of attention pays to safety. As a family car, security is always on a higher level than in other segments.

2019 Chevrolet Tahoe engine

The current version of crossover gets the power from the 5.3-l V-8 engine, which is also part of Silverado truck lineup. With some boost and development, 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe will probably get more from this drivetrain. Experts predict 370 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. However, the SUV will get a higher-trim RST version. That means, under the hood of the crossover we will find 6.2-l V-8 with more power and torque. The direct-injection system can make Tahoe capable of delivering 420 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. A CVT transmission is the only certain thing at this point.

2019 Chevrolet Tahoe competition

It is still early to talk about the final look of the 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe. That is why the company is not coming out with an official statement. However, when the crossover steps into the market, competition will follow their development. At first lines, there will be GMC Yukon and Chrysler Aspen. Also, Jeep Cherokee, as a segment leader, will monitor the situation.

It’s the Performance pack that elevates the RST from a bro-dozer that’s all mouth and no trousers to one that packs some hilarious performance. Gone is the standard 5.3-liter V-8 and its 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, and in its place is something Chevrolet dealers and customers have been asking for since these trucks were redesigned for the 2015 model year–a 6.2-liter, 420-hp V-8 engine. Traditionally the engine of choice in the Cadillac Escalade and GMC Yukon Denali, the brawnier engine also packs 460 lb-ft of torque.

Working alongside the bigger engine is General Motors’ new 10-speed automatic transmission. Dubbed the 10L80, it’s a close relative of the Camaro ZL1’s Hydra-Matic 10-speed. There’s little reason to suspect it won’t be as impressive in the RST models.

Together, the RSTs’ new powertrain returns some impressive preliminary stats. According to Chevy, the Tahoe RST’s 0-60 mph sprint should take just 5.7 seconds which is broadly similar to that of a Volkswagen GTI. And yet, these high-performance SUVs should be able to tow up to 8,400 pounds and have room for up to eight passengers. What they lack in lightness, they make up for in brawn.

But beyond the GTI-like straight-line speed, the RST wants to provide GTI-like handling (OK, maybe that’s overstating it), thanks to the Performance package’s standard magnetic ride control suspension. The same system we’ve raved about on several other GM performance products comes standard on the range-topping Tahoe and Suburban Premier. With the RST’s Performance package, though, the MRC system gets a unique “performance calibration” that “increases body control for even higher levels of responsiveness and comfort.”

Perhaps the most absurd–but useful–element of the RST’s Performance package are its brakes. Up front, it includes huge 6-piston Brembo-branded calipers that grab 16.1-inch rotors. These pizza-pan-sized discs increase the rotor area by 42 percent, while the 6-pot stoppers represent an 84-percent bump in brake pad area.

Chevrolet hasn’t released pricing for the RST trims quite yet, but we’re expecting that to arrive closer to the trucks’ on-sale date later this year.
